Summer love

 Sometimes it's nice to reflect on where you are....often the grass seems greener on the other side, then you stop and take stock of where you are and how fortunate you are to be there. I'm lucky enough to be on holidays for the next 6 weeks ( Yep Mario hates this & I don't blame him) so my routine has me heading to the beach everyday! It's so easy to get caught up in the daily grind that we forget the true beauty on our doorstep. So I thought I'd share our gorgeous doorstep with you.

Rock climbing when it's 40c....

Perth is gearing up for summer and doing it by throwing 4 days of weather close to 40c at us! So what better thing to do than go climbing.....I am beginning to think that Mario is a bit mad.

We picked up Mario's friend Ange and headed for Wellington Damn near Collie.

9:30 am.....yep it's going to be hot

I had my work Christmas party the night before, so I spent most of the day here.

While Mario chose to be here....

Finally it became a bit too hot and hard so we headed to Honeymoon pool for a very refreshing swim and a cold beer.

           

Day two was an early start at a spot near Pinjarra. Mario and Ange climbed for a few hours before the heat got too much.

I'm no climber so I am thankful that the places they climb are always beautiful.

Farm Life

We are lucky enough to live around a 2 hour drive from the farm that my Dad manages. The property is  gorgeous, surrounded by forest on all four boarders. So a weekend visit isn't too hard to arrange! 

Last weekend we headed out early Saturday morning with the intention to go climbing at a spot about half an hour from Dad's. We arrived, got all the gear out and were ready to go! Mario started a climb only for me to be instantly distracted by something crawling up my leg. This 'something' was ticks! They were everywhere and HUGE! Mario finished the climb, cleaned it and we were off! I was not keen to be removing ticks from myself for the next few days and Mario was not keen on my belaying skills. Not the most successful climbing trip. 

So off we headed for a weekend of Yabbying & farm adventures.

Dad's new foal. Pindan was happy sitting on the ute while the other dogs chased Kangaroos. Along with the Yabbies we caught these massive tadpoles!

Merry Christmas Everyone

This year I felt inspired to decorate the house, we wont be here for Christmas day so it isn't too over the top...just enough to get us in the spirit! Mario hasn't really celebrated Christmas since he has been in Australia (apparently there are rocks he'd rather climb), I'm hoping to get him a little excited this year. We will be heading down to Esperance to spend time with my family and friends. With a stop in Albany for some climbing on the way back to Perth (only a 500km detour) !

Speculaas!

I celebrated Saint Nicholas Day for the first time ever this year! Needless to say I was pretty happy to have another holiday to partake in. I spend the night making delicious speculaas...Yum!
